Video Footage Shows Baton Rouge Police Officers Shooting Man Repeatedly; Killing Him
A man was shot multiple times in the chest and head by #BatonRouge police officers and it was all caught on tape. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀What prompted authorities to approach #AltonSterling, 37,  was a call to the police by a homeless man who said Alton had a gun . According to police,  two uniformed officers responded to a disturbance call from someone claiming  Sterling was threatening him with a gun. When officers approached Sterling outside the Triple S Food Mart around 12:30 am, they found him selling CDs. Officers say that an altercation happened between them and Sterling, however graphic video captured by onlookers seems to tell a slightly different story. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

State Rep. Denise Marcelle says she was told by Baton Rouge Police Chief Dabadie that body cameras worn by both officers fell off during the incident and do not show the shooting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The store owner, Abdul Maflahi, was a witness to the incident and says that officers confronted Sterling upon arrival. One officer based Sterling and the other tackled him to the ground. While on the ground, the officer who previously fired his taser, pulled out his gun and shot Sterling. Muflahi said he did not see a gun in Sterling’s hand but did see officers pull something, possibly a gun, out of Sterling’s pocket after the shooting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In the video footage, a police officer could be heard yelling “He’s got a gun” while the other one says “If you f*ckin move, I swear to God,” while holding his gun just inches from Sterling’s chest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Alton Sterling, a father of five, is known to sell CDs outside of this store for years, so it’s not likely it was the store owner who called the police. #justiceforaltonsterling
